Our Mission
Splashpointe Protocols, Inc., a 501(c)(3) corporation, was formed to promote water safety by teaching drowning prevention techniques through lessons provided by Plano Parks & Recreation. Our mission is to provide sponsorships to assure that all Plano residents have access to professional water safety instruction.

- Splashpointe maintains a sponsorship fund to help youth and family members in Plano, Texas who do not have the financial means to participate in a professional water safety program.
- The number of sponsorships and award amounts vary based on our fund raising efforts.

How Our Program Works
- An $89 donation will sponsor one child and provide needed life saving skills.
- Donations to Splashpointe are deposited to the Splashpointe Protocols account at Plano Parks & Recreation.
- Applicants are awarded sponsorship and contacted to set up individual and/or group lessons provided by Aquatic Staff at Plano Aquatic Center..
- Number of sponsorships vary based on our fund raising efforts.
- Lessons are provided throughout the year.
Drowning Statistics
- Every year in the US there are an estimated 4000+ unintentional drowning deaths (an average of 11 per day) and 8000+ nonfatal drownings (an average of 22 per day)
- More children ages 1-4 die from drowning than any other cause of death.
- For children ages 5-14, drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury death after motor vehicle crashes.
- For every child under 18 who dies from drowning, another 7 receive emergency department treatment for nonfatal injuries.

Drowning Defined
"Drowning is the process of experiencing respiratory impairment from submersion or immersion in liquid."
- Fatal Drowning - when the drowning results in death.
- Nonfatal Drowning - when a person survives a drowning incident resulting in a range of outcomes, from no injuries to serious injuries such as brain damage or permanent disability.
